Pear Tree School is an other independent special school in Darlington, teaching boys and girls aged 8 to 18. It has a sixth form, special classes, and SEN provision for specific learning difficulty and moderate learning difficulty. At its July 2019 Ofsted inspection, the school was judged Outstanding; that rating is now over five years old. A separate ISI inspection in June 2023 found the relevant standards and safeguarding standards met.
The school says Pear Tree was established in 1990 and offers a therapeutic environment for young people recovering from adverse childhood experiences.
