Barbara Priestman Academy is a mixed academy special school in Sunderland for young people aged 11 to 19. It has a sixth form, special classes, and SEN provision for autistic pupils and pupils with severe learning difficulty. Ofsted rated it Good at its last full inspection in February 2015.
The academy says it works across two settings: a main Meadowside setting for ages 11 to 16 and a sixth-form setting in a wing of Thornhill School. It describes a vision of helping students build social relationships, stay healthy and become as independent as possible.
