Thorp Academy is a mixed non-selective secondary academy in Ryton, Gateshead, teaching ages 11 to 18 with a sixth form. It has around 1,500 pupils and broad SEN provision spanning learning, sensory, physical, communication, autism and SEMH needs.

Ofsted rated the school Good at its last full inspection (2019). GCSE Attainment 8 was 47.2, 54.2% achieved grade 5 or above in English and maths, and 58% of students progressed to higher education.
