Harton Academy is a large mixed, non-selective secondary academy in South Shields, for students aged 11 to 18. It has a sixth form and special classes for pupils with speech, language and communication needs.

Ofsted rated the school Good in March 2024. At GCSE, its Attainment 8 score was 42.6, and 38.1% of pupils achieved grade 5 or above in English and maths.

At A level, the average grade was C, and 74% of students progressed to higher education.
