Fix-It (UK) is a specialist post-16 institution in Wigan, with places for around 60 learners aged 16 to 24.
The organisation describes itself as a charity offering vocational education for young people who have an education, health and care plan or are not in education, employment or training. It says its base looks and feels like a working garage, using motor-vehicle maintenance to engage learners who prefer doing to academic study, leading to a motor-industry recognised qualification and work-related references. It began in 2002 as a Wigan Community Safety pilot project before becoming an independent charity, it says.
