Plashet, City of London Academy is a large non-selective secondary academy for girls aged 11 to 16 in Newham, London, with capacity for 1,500 pupils. The school describes itself as a caring comprehensive in the heart of East Ham, housed in two main buildings on opposite sides of Plashet Grove and joined by what it calls its award-winning Unity Bridge.
Its history, the school says, stretches back to 1932, when East Ham Grammar School for Girls first opened; two schools on the site amalgamated in 1972, and the Unity Bridge physically linked them in 2000. It describes an academic and stimulating environment with expert teachers, high expectations, and students who are smart, respectful and committed to their learning.
